एकता में महान शक्ति होती है।

एक गाँव में श्याम नाम का एक व्यक्ति रहता था और उसके चार बेटे थे । बड़े बेटे का नाम रजत , दूसरे बेटे का नाम रचित, तीसरे बेटे का नाम रोहित और सबसे छोटे बेटे का नाम रेहान था। बचपन में उनकी आपस में खुब जमती थी लेकिन जैसे - जैसे वे बड़े होने लगे तो उनके बीच अनबन होने लगी। अपने बच्चो का आपसी व्यवहार बदलता देख श्याम को बहुत चिन्ता होने लगी और उसे समझ में नही आ रहा था कि क्या किया जाए। एक दिन वह जंगल में घुमने गया और वहाँ उसकी नजर एक लकड़हारे पर पड़ती है जो लकड़ियाँ तोड़ रहा होता है। श्याम उसके पास जाता है और अपना नाम श्याम बता कर उसका परिचय पूछता है । लकड़हारा अपना नाम मोहन बताता है । दोनो में थोड़ी देर बात -चीत होती है उसके बाद मोहन अपने काम में लग जाता है। मोहन एक बड़े पेड़ से पतली - पतली टहनियाँ तोड़ कर और उसे छोटे - छोटे टुकड़ो में कर के गट्ठर बना रहा था। श्याम ने देखा  कि जब मोहन पतली टहनियों को तोड़ता है तो वे बड़ी आसानी से टूट  जाती हैं लेकिन जब दो या उससे अधिक टहनियों को तोड़ने का प्रयास करता है तो उसे मुश्किल होती है। श्याम को यह दृष्य देख कर उसके मन मे एक विचार आया कि मै अपने बच्चों को इन लकड़ियों के माध्यम से  एकता की शक्त पाठ पढ़ा सकता हूँ।

अगले दिन सुबह  श्याम पेड़ से पतली - पतली लकड़ियाँ तोड़ता है और अपने चारों बच्चो को बुलाकर कहता हैः- आज हम  सब एक खेल खेलेगें और वह सभी को एक - एक लकड़ी दे देता है। बच्चे बड़ी उत्सुकता से उन लकड़ियों को देखते हैं और अपने पिता जी से पूछते है ।

पिताजी, इन लकड़ियों का क्या करना है ।

श्यामः तुम सभी इन लकड़ियों को अपने हाथ से तोड़ो ।

सभी  ने बड़ी आसानी से उन लकडियों को तोड़ दिया ।

श्याम : अब तुम सभी एक -एक लकड़ी और लाओ और उसे इकट्ठा करके एक गट्ठर बना लो। 

बच्चे गट्ठर बनाने के बाद( सामूहिक स्वर में) : पिताजी अब क्या करना है।

श्यामः अपने बड़े बेटे रजत को बुलाता है और उस लकड़ी के गट्ठर को तोड़ने के लिए कहता है। रजत बहुत कोशिश करता है लेकिन उससे वो लकड़ी का गट्ठर नही टूटता है।

श्याम अपने दूसरे बेटे रचित को उक्त कार्य करने के लिए कहता है और उससे भी वो लकड़ी का गट्ठर नही टूटता है।

इसी तरह चारो बच्चे प्रयास करते है उस लकड़ी के गट्ठर को तोड़ने के लिए लेकिन सफल नही होते।

श्यामः अब तुम सारे मिल कर प्रयास करो । बच्चे प्रयास करते हैं लेकिन लकड़ी के गट्ठर को तोड़ने में सफल नही होते हैं। श्याम अपने चारो बेटो को अपने पास आकर बैठने को बोलता है। सभी बच्चे आकर उसके पास  बैठ जाते हैं।

श्याम : आज के इस खेल से आप सब ने क्या सीखा ?

बच्चे सोचते है थोड़ी देर फिर पूछते हैं : भला इस लकड़ी को तोड़ने में क्या सीख है।

श्याम : बच्चों मै बताता हूँ इस खेल में कितना बड़ा सीख छिपा है। आप लोगो ने यह महसूस किया होगा कि जब आप एक लकड़ी तोड़ रहे थे तो आपको ज्यादा मेहनत नही करना पड़ा होगा । वही जब आप उन्ही लकड़ियों से बने गट्ठर को तोड़ने का प्रयास  कर रहे थे तो आपको ज्यादा मेहनत करना पड़ा होगा और आप सब सफल भी नही हुए। यहाँ आप सब इस बात पर गौर करे , जिस तरह एक पतली लकड़ी को तोड़ना आसान है लेकिन उसी लकड़ी से बने गट्ठर को तोड़ना मुश्किल है ठीक उसी प्रकार अगर आप लोग एकाकी जीवन व्यतीत  करेगें तो आपको हराना आसान होगा । वही अगर आप सब एक साथ रहेगें तो आप सब को हराना मुश्किल होगा। इसलिए एक साथ मिल - जुल कर रहना चाहिए ।

There is great power in unity

There lived a person named Shyam in a village and had four sons. The elder son's name was Rajat, the second son's name was Rachit, the third son's name was Rohit and the youngest son's name was Rehan. As a child, they had a good relationship with each other, but as they grew older, there was a rift between them. Seeing the changing behavior of his children, Shyam started worrying and he could not understand what to do. One day he goes for a walk in the forest and there he sees a woodcutter who is breaking wood. Shyam goes to him and asks him to introduce him as Shyam. The woodcutter tells his name Mohan. After a brief conversation between the two, Mohan gets involved in his work. Mohan was making bundles by breaking thin twigs from a big tree and cutting them into small pieces. Shyam noticed that when Mohan breaks the thin twigs, they break very easily but when he tries to break two or more twigs, it becomes difficult. Seeing this view, Shyam got an idea in his mind that I can teach my children the power of unity through these sticks.

The next morning, Shyam breaks thin wood from the tree and calls all four of his children and says: - Today we will all play a game and he gives everyone one wood each. The children eagerly look at those sticks and ask their father.

Dad, what to do with these sticks. 

Shyam: Break all these wood with your hand. Everyone broke those wood with great ease.

Shyam: Now you all bring one more wood and gather it and make a bundle. 

After making the bundles, childres (in collective tones): what father has to do now.

Shyam: Calls his elder son Rajat and tells him to break that bundle of wood. Rajat tries hard but he does not break the bundle of wood. Shyam tells his second son Rachit to do the above work and that does not break the bundle of wood. 

Similarly, all the children try to break that bundle of wood but are not successful.

Shyam: Now all of you try together. The children try but do not succeed in breaking the wooden bundle. Shyam tells his four sons to sit near him. All the children come and sit near him.

Shyam: What did you all learn from today's game? 

Children think again for a while and ask: What is the lesson in breaking this wood?

Shyam: Children, I tell you how big learning is hidden in this game. You people must have realized that when you were breaking a wood, you did not have to work very hard. The same when you were trying to break the bundle made of those wood, you would have had to work harder and you were not all successful. Here all of you consider that it is easy to break a thin wood but it is difficult to break a bundle made of the same wood, in the same way if you live a lonely life then it will be easy to defeat you.
